What is Blu-Ray?

What is Blu-ray? No, not a creature of the deep or any mythical beast. Blu-ray is a digital media third generation or data storage technology for the Blu-ray Disc Association, an assembly of corporate media and electronics technology leaders. The Blu-ray discs are currently competing with HD-DVD to become the new optical disc format. They have much more storage capacity and data transfer speed than conventional DVD's and CD's.

Blu-ray Disc optical disc relation to other

A Blu-ray disc looks like any other Optical, including first-generation CDs, DVDs, the second generation, and competence of third-generation HD DVD.

One system uses Blu-ray a blue-violet laser with a wavelength of 405 nanometers to write and read data on the optical disk. This laser is the source of the name of the Blu-ray and technology differs from Blu-ray from the previous generation of optical discs. The 405 nanometer blue-violet laser is also used for writing and reading data third-generation HD DVD discs, which have less data storage capacity per layer. Major media require a red laser optical data storage and recovery.

Blu-ray storage capacity

The system of Blu-ray uses a shorter wavelength than the conventional optical discs (CD systems use a red laser with a wavelength of 780 nanometers, while the DVD systems use the same red laser with a wavelength of 650 nanometers). The shorter wavelength means more accurate data recording, which allows more data to be packed on the surface of Blu-ray disc than a CD or similar surface DVD. In fact, a standard single-layer Blu-ray disc can store up to 25GB of digital data, more than five times the storage capacity of conventional DVD. A disc dual-layer Blu-ray can store up to 50 GB of digital data. On the drawing board are quad layer Blu-ray discs with capacities of 100 GB of data storage digital.

Blu-ray Support

To enjoy the substantial benefits of Blu-ray disc, a player must have a Blu-ray (and is independent based or software) that allows the reading of Blu-ray. Blu-ray players need to have an MPEG-2 codec (which makes a player capable of playing HD DVD and DVD) a codec VC-1 and AVC or MPEG-4 codec. Movies stored on Blu-ray discs use any of the codecs mentioned. A film can also have more of a codec, provided as each codec used is supported by Blu-ray technology.

Blu-ray ????????????????????????????

Is it possible to see a blu disc in a conventional DVD player? What need a HDTV to watch Blu-ray? best answer 10 points thanks im getting a ps3

No, you can not see a movie Blu-ray to DVD. (Why is Blu-ray players then?) You can watch movies on regular DVD in a blu-ray though. No, you do not need an HDTV definition, but it will be a waste of money to have bought one without an HDTV. At least, you should ensure that both the TV and Blu-ray player special of the same variety of AV connections, which you will not even be able to connect. Dj has no idea as to what he / she is talking. Or what is your take on it, my blu-ray has HDMI, component, and even S-video outputs?
